It is unlikely that anyone would develop influenza whilst water-only-fasting in a state of complete rest, because this process will strengthen the Immune system, whilst simultaneously eradicating the bodily ecology that allows any viral/bacterial infection to thrive or survive: toxemia.
Yes I do advocate taking supplemental Vitamin D in the absence of regular/any exposure to direct sunlight; food sources are also largely inadequate, unlike most other nutrients.
The body will also produce over 20,000 ius of Vitamin D within a half-hour of full body exposure to direct sunlight. In the absence of sunlight though, supplemental Vitamin D is considered to be prudent and prophylactic by many.
Also, as a nutrient, supplemental and synthetic Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is chemically identical to the Vitamin D3 we obtain from sunlight exposure.
One of the main tenets of Natural Hygiene is Nutrition, and where todays World does not provide the optimized nutrition we need from food sources alone, and for one reason or another (soil-nutrient-depletion) leading to crop-nutrient-depletion.
Vitamin D3 is actually a complete form of nutrition as formed within the skin by sunlight, which in turn is converted to calcidiol within the Liver which is then partly converted by the kidneys into calcitriol, the biologically active form of vitamin D. Supplemental Vitamin D3 is therefore part of a nutritional cycle required by the body.
Vitamin D3 is therefore not a poison, although toxicity can occur (along with anything else) at extremely high doses, over a long period of time.
