The Alternate-Day Diet is written by an M. D. and has a caveat - don't follow
it if you are over 60 years old. I violated that as I'm now 81. I
did follow it for about four months and it is very difficult to follow but I
lost about 15 pounds in that time. I wasn't really overweight, just near
the top of my BMI for being within my normal weight range so it was obviously
effective.
The difficulties - There are always, and I mean always, family events.
Birthdays, the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's Holidays along with just plain
old weekends with restaurant visits with friends. Trying to adjust the
every other day diet to all of these happenings is next to impossible.
There are even those who instead of every other day try to diet for 3 days, and
go off for 4. Bottom line most people don't make it but if you can - it
works great.
