Re: no extremes, just common sense and honesty.
Hello Spud,
MMS is a brand name. I agree that the title of the support forum should be shortened to simply sodium chlorite. Sodium chlorite can be used in a variety of ways that improve health as long as you follow some simple rules of chemistry and health.
Jim Humble claims that he has a lot of experience with using these chemicals, and he tries to back them up with industrial tests done. The evidence of the effectiveness of chlorine dioxide in industry is all based on it being used outside the body. When industry looked at purifying blood from pathogens like hepatitis C and HIV, their testing revealed that when the concentration of chlorine dioxide was high enough to be effective, you also killed off blood cells. They worked around this by removing the blood cells and concentrating the purifying efforts on the plasma. Jim Humble is wrong when he claims that the selective properties of chlorine dioxide mean that it will only attack pathogens and not harm body cells.
Jim Humble claims his various
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement protocols are 95 - 97% effective, but it seems that the proof of effectiveness is a simple email sent saying that after following the
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement protocol you seem to feel better. There are a couple of cases that offer some documentation, but they are rare. Finding any documentation on his so called "clinical trials" is very difficult. It is also difficult to find anyone in the area where the trials supposedly took place that knows that any trials were conducted, or anyone that experienced the positive results.
The various
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement protocols are still garbage, but they are an improvement over the original protocols. When people tried the original protocol it was obvious that they were poisoning themselves. Reducing the amount taken per dose and spreading it over a longer period of time allows the body to deal with the poisoning a little better. Oxidative damage does not manifest itself immediately but takes its toll over a period of time. Jim Humble loves to point out that chlorine dioxide has a low oxidation potential, but fails to understand that MMS forms chlorous acid and chlorous acid has almost twice the oxidation potential of chlorine dioxide. You would be much better off simply adding chlorine dioxide to water and drinking that than following the MMS protocol.
Jim Humble does not understand the chemistry involved in these chemicals. He also doesn't seem to understand how the human body functions. He does seem to have a grasp on marketing his church.
The basic use of oxidizers involve having a concentration of them in contact with the pathogen for a period of time long enough to kill it. The age old problem is getting the oxidizer into contact with the pathogen. Drinking a strong solution often does not work.
However, there are other ways to use these chemicals. Jim Humble has looked at a few of these, but still favors ingesting the strong solution. If he spent a little more time looking at other methods of use, he may find a lot more people posting positive results.
Your request for evidence is interesting. I suppose if you are asking if there is any evidence that drinking a dose of MMS has any benefit, that is one consideration. On the other hand there are lots of discussions of the powerful results of using sodium chlorite solutions in animals and humans.
There is a patent for purifying blood plasma using chlorine dioxide. Does this count?
There are numerous studies and tests on improving oral hygiene. Since the mouth and teeth and gums are inside the body, does this count?
Experiments have shown that chlorine dioxide is also effective at killing off jaw bone infections, but those tests are not published.
There is a patent and numerous studies on killing nail fungus. I have had wonderful results using chlorine dioxide solutions to kill fungus. Does killing off nail fungus count?
My favorite is Rico's miracle. You can look that up on the support forum. The vet found that the ear infection had shredded the ear drum and had progressed beyond that. Both a topical solution and ingesting sodium chlorite were used, and the results were rather impressive.
I know this one counts. Once the infection progresses beyond the ear drum, it is inside the body. If it wasn't stopped, the next stop was to infect the brain and the dog would have to be put down.
A glimmer of hope was found in the various efforts of the WF10 tests. Unfortunately, while some results were spectacular, overall the effectiveness of sodium chlorite was not good enough to continue with the clinical trials. Jim Humble confirmed their lack of results by trying MMS via IV. He also confirmed the adverse effects of these chemicals.
The problem with all of this is that we are only looking at part of the problem. The emphasis is only on killing. If you kill off pathogens, but don't change you environment you become infected again.
It's funny to think about a "church" based upon killing. Perhaps Jim Humble will someday expand his vision to include building up the body and bringing it into balance.
Now don't get me wrong. Killing is important, but there is much more when it comes to maintaining optimum health.
An interesting side topic is malaria. Whenever I chat with a medical professional about if chlorous acid (MMS) can relieve malaria symptoms, I always get the same answer. Yes.
The method that it works is that chlorous acid kills blood cells. Since the blood cells are infected with malaria, they get killed off.
Now, is it the best care for the patient to kill off their blood cells in an effort to eliminate malaria symptoms?
My initial response to that question is no, but there is some success with chemotherapy... Perhaps we should look at MMS as a form of chemotherapy.
