Re: MMS the cult.
Hello Spud,
The interesting points on that study were that a living creature seems to have received some benefit from ingesting sodium chlorite. Living creatures experienced adverse effects at higher concentrations of sodium chlorite. Sodium chlorite testing was being done long before Jim Humble knew of this chemical.
I believe this study was done in 1967. This study played a part in the launch of the various "stabilized oxygen" products, which also pre-date Jim Humble. It is interesting to note that the directions for a "stabilized oxygen" dose involve concentrations in the 10 - 75 PPM range. The bees also did well in that range.
Another interesting point is that the original
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement protocol of working up to 15 drops several times a day involved concentrations similar to those that caused adverse effects for the bees.
Another interesting point is that other animals (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, cows, and even some humans) tend to show improvement in the quality of their lives at these very low concentrations of sodium chlorite.
As to how this actually works, I am afraid it is going to take more research and testing before that can be understood. In the mean time, we are stuck with anecdotal evidence, and a few studies done with bees, waterfowl, and fish.
Does this mean that people should ingest sodium chlorite? Of course not. However, I am reminded of the history of Aspirin. Aspirin was discovered in 400 BC, patented in 1900, used extensively in pain relief, but it wasn't until the 1970's that medical
Science was able to figure out how it worked.
With proper diet, exercise, and a positive outlook on life, many illness can be avoided. If illness strikes, there are many herbal substances that may help. The problem comes when they don't help. If a person is faced with chemotherapy and radiation as the best choice to extend life, perhaps a mild form of chemo by using sodium chlorite may be considered.
Still, it would be nice to understand a little more about this chemical before ingesting it. It is unfortunate that Jim Humble is spending more funds on building his church than doing research and testing on sodium chlorite.
However, if he did the testing he would probably figure out that sodium chlorite at the levels used in the
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement protocol are a poison to the body, and what would he do then.
