Better idea - take a short break, regroup and keep on moderating

Instead of stopping, a better idea would be to take a wee break and see what you have learned and come back a bit wiser - which I strongly suspect is what you will end up doing.  The debate forums, as do several support forums, are crying for sensible moderation.  Though not everyone may agree, most do and CZ will be the better for it.

When you return, hopefully sooner than later, moderate mostly silently but effectively.  A message which has been hidden or had an offensive slur removed is a stronger message on your part than trying to go back and forth with posters.  You don't need to explain yourself so long as you establish boundaries for what will or will not be permitted in accordance with TOS and forum guidelines.  Neither do you need to let yourself be played by those who are currying favor or otherwise trying to influence you.

So, by all means do continue to moderate.  Do so fairly and according to your own conscience and not your own opinion or bias.  In doing so, I am certain that you will have the support of the WM and can assure you that you will have my support and the support of many others.
