B&G, we usually see eye to eye on most things, but in this case IMO you are very wrong.

There were members on these boards that asked for moderation, to stop the worst of the personal attacks, the outright slander, and the attacking of the messenger instead of the message.

What we got was censorship of posts that breached no TOS , nor contained personal attacks, of any other form of attack or slander of any other members.

I asked for an explanation, when this was done to my posts, but got very little. Posts that contained nothing but a music video were hidden, and posts that contained information regarding the topic being discussed, with absolutely no breach of TOS, were butchered.

If this moderator had continued, these forums would have been left in tatters and the threads would make no sense at all. There has been no lynch mob, but there have been many people voicing their concerns over the censorship of posts, and people have every right to do this.

While you may think that the debate boards are pointless, I actually really enjoy discussing issues that are important to me, and obviously important to others. The aim of these boards is to give people somewhere where issues that are controversial can be discussed, and disagreements can be expressed, away from the Support Forums , where disagreements are not allowed.

Yes, these forums need moderating, but they do not need censoring. It must be remembered by anyone who moderates here, that these are "debate" forums, not some ladies garden party.
