Actually, the dentist that had agreed to do the job said he would defintely work with a rubber dam but he didn't have access to any exhaust or oxygen for me.

Yes, I do agree that the composites are not as strong as Amalgam but it just seems crazy to add more mercury to my mouth when I am about to have it removed from other teeth. I got the dentist to file the edge of my tooth down to the level of the composite because it was too sharp (I don't know how she couldn't feel that herself!) so I'm hopeful that will provide a little extra protection.

I've never had a root canal or a crown and prefer not to. I also agree that dentists can be constrained by their employers, maybe government bodies in particular but the dentists I've dealt with all had personal investments in their own views. The guy who was slated to remove my mercury tried to talk me out of it because he thought it more dangerous to remove it but said he always used composite himself on new fillings.

By the way, all the dentists I've seen or talked with via phone have believed the fumes during the drilling was more dangerous than anything else. They would all use a rubber dam.

I'm still OP'ing daily and it does seem to keep most of the pain at bay (left side of face, ear, temple, head) but I don't think it is healing per se. It's not even whitening my teeth and I've been doing it quite some time now.
