of iodine ingested is a personal choice, based on costs & availability.
I've experienced & seen some amazing changes with iodine supplementation. Those problems haven't come back after treatment.
One website I've been to suggests munching 4-5 grams of seaweed daily. Using unwashed, sun-dried seaweed! They claim 60% of iodine is lost through soaking/cooking. Seaweed of different colors have different nutrition profiles and purposes. Personally, I'm not too keen on the taste.
Another issue that iodine helps with is environmental toxins i.e. fluoride, bromide etc. Once ingested/absorbed, do they leave the body without an "iodine flush"? This involves more than nutrition alone.
Hope more people can express their ideas and clarify.
