Dazed and Confused.
HI,
I've been having digestive issues for about 10 years. Started with IBS type symptoms and chronic indigestion. Fast forward 7 years I am taken to the ER room with extreme abdominal pain. Doctors said it was my appendix and of course removed it. Digestive issues continue. I switch to a paleo diet/SCD with some relief but still have digestion issues, though the IBS has pretty much cleared.
Last week I started having really bad indigestion. Or at least that's what it felt like. My abdomen was making tons of noise and constantly churning and gnawing even many hours after food. Only eating would calm it and even then only for a short while.
I was feeling very fatigued and my legs were shakey. Some of my work colleagues were sick with the flu so I thought maybe it was the flu. A week later it had went away or so i thought. I made myself a ground beef and veggie dish with coconut oil and suddenly the gnawing churning abdomen returned.
This continued for two more days when I felt like I was getting an flu or cold in my lungs. i inhaled a bit of h202 for the cough as I find it helps ward off viruses. However, it may have aggravated my stomach because the gnawing and churning became extremely painful and intense. It started to radiate down to my lower back on both sides. It became so painful I couldn't stay still. In fact it was the worst pain I had ever felt. It reminded me of the pain I had when they took my appendix but worse.
Finally I had to go the ER. The pain was so bad they saw me relatively quickly. Doc thought it was gallbladder because the pain was most intense on the upper right part of abdomen. They did an ultrasound and found nothing out of the normal with my kidneys, pancreas or gallbladder except several polyps in my gallbladder also no infections in blood or urine. They gave me painkillers and told me if it continues to happen they would just remove my gallbladder (gotta love western medicine).
So now I am dazed and confused about what is actually going on with me. If it is my gallbladder then I'm guessing a high fat high protein paleo diet is not a good idea. I haven't eaten anything but broth and a bit of mashed carrots and beets since the attack. My stomach is still gnawing and churning though not painfully. I noticed when I am lying on my back I can feel my abdomen around my belly button pullsing (not sure if that is my actual pulse or not but i'm sure i would have noticed that before).
Does this sound like gallbladder issues? I'm a little lost as to what my next steps are. I am considering doing a flush but I don't want know if thats the right move. I'm pretty traumatized from the amount of pain I was in so I definitely want to figure out what is really going on so I can heal properly.
Any wisdom or experience you can share would be most appreciated.
