Ides of March
walking where the town and the mountains converge
Date: 3/15/2006 5:39:41 PM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 3168 times After a heart-related health issue stirred up everything in my usually calm world last Sunday night, I ended up in a local hospital for a short stay. If you wish to know all the gorey details, please refer to my other blog, to an entry called Happenings.
I will not let this heart related health issue deter my walking. Or should I say detour?
Well, anyway, this morning I resumed my walking. I was in the area at the west end of town, where the mountains and the town join seamlessly together. It's a lovely spot.
There's a park where two of the town's main streets converge directly into a nice mountain trail. That's where I walked. Hiked, really.
Many different birds were out, some unfamiliar to me. It's funny how much nicer birds' morning songs sound after one goes through a near-death experience!
The trail was uncrowded, but wet and muddy from a few snowstorms earlier in the week.
So I walked cautiously. It was nice to breathe deep breaths of the fresh crisp mountain air.
I walked about 25 minutes uphill (gentle incline) and stopped briefly to rest, sitting on a sunny rock.
Then I returned to the convergence point. The return trip was only about 12 minutes, as it was all downhill.
Friends have commented that I look healthier. 2 of them have said that today.
Amazing, after the whole heart/hospital adventure, eh?
