Finally, another walk

a 4.5 mile winding walk in an urban convention center

Saturday January 28th is the day I resumed walking. Oh, I walked plenty between last weekend and this, but mostly my walking was at work or at the store, which as we all know doesn't exactly count.

Actually, my Saturday walk took place both indoors and outdoors. I did have my trusty pedometer with me, and it said I walked 4 and 1/2 miles total. That amazed me, as it did not seem to me like I had actually walked that far.

I went with a friend to the World Wellness Weekend in Denver. We parked a few blocks from the Convention Center. That was the beginning of the walking. Since a sportsmens' convention was also happening at the Convention Center, there were many families and also groups of outdoorsy manly men walking toward the Convention Center front door.

The ticket buying area for the sportsmens' convention was in the front lobby, and there was simply an arrow pointing in an odd diagonal direction for the World Wellness Weekend registration.

It turns out the ticket booths for the Wellness Weekend were at the far end of the Convention Center. Good. More walking. After a brief reverie of standing in the credit card line, we got our Saturday only passes.

Then more walking to find the room where the one speaker we wanted to hear was presenting. When we got into the room, a young man came in and walked up to the podium, and announced that our speaker was ill and wouldn't be speaking. We asked if his organization's booth would still be in the exhibit hall, but the young man did not know.

After this we walked back to the front of the building and down a long flight of stairs and across a ramped area and halfway back toward the rear of the building again, to the exhibit hall.

Once in the vast exhibit hall, we decided to wander up and down the two aisles on the left. The diagram of specific exhibit locations was puzzling and apparently our guy's exhibit would have a name different than the name of his company, and we did not know what that name was, so we just decided to wander among the booths.

Myriads of multilevel marketing booths, one after the other after the other. Definitely not in the mood for any multilevel marketing spiel, I delftly dodged the many MLM product booths sprinkled in between the therapists and purveyors of energy and meditative tools of all shapes and sizes and kinds.

After a few interesting brief stops and one rather long stop at the Metaforms (sacred geometry) booth

we continued to wander through the aisles that were probably as long as 2 city blocks each, hoping to find the booth we were looking for, and hoping someone would be there, as their main speaker was ill.

Well, 45 minutes and many miles on the pedometer later, we found the booth. It was near the end of the last aisle we walked through. What a joy it was to find that booth. The speaker's wife and a woman who works with them were there at the booth. I had questions about some metal coil devices that I use at my VIBE Machine center. The man who was to speak invented the coil devices and many other powerful earth energy tools. I found out what I needed to know, and made tentative arrangements to visit their production center in the near future. This is their link, if you find energy devices and dowsing interesting:

Due to the limitations of being parked at a parking meter with a 2 hour maximum, and obligations at home, we had to start walking back to the car almost immediately after finding our destination booth.

After walking from the exhibit hall to the front of the Convention Center, and then a few blocks back to the car, my pedometer registered 4.5 miles of walking. There were a few brief stops, however most of my time was spent walking, and much of it speed-walking past MLM booths.

I would like to get back to doing walks outdoors after this. I can tell you something though: I really felt like I'd done a workout after the 2+ hours of walking today.

It's all good, right?
