Hi,
I have had a portable infrared sauna since Nov 06, however i have read a couple of times that the air in Far Infrared Sauna s does not get hot, however the one i have does get hot. It was quite a cheap one, i am concerned it is not a genuine infrared sauna due to this.
It has this plastic mat thing you put your feet on that appears to get hot after a while. The sauna obsiously works in that it makes me sweat but maybe they just stuck a heater in there or something, and it does not have the same effect as far-infrared technology

I think we have the same one actually, when i wrote this post i searched cz for the manufacturer name of my sauna and i think a post by you came up. i couldnt find any info on this sauna on the net though and it seems they no longer sell them (i got mine from a shopping channel and i read they got fined for claiming 'unproven health benefits' for inra-red sauna)

This is a reply to # 962,451The best to have is the carbon filter type, not a ceramic heater. Most bag type have carbon filters on the walls, but I have seen some with ceramic heaters placed inside of them, I would avoid this type.
I would also recommend an added bonus to your sauna...buy a $60 ozone generator and cut a small hole into your sauna bag and attach the gassing ozone tube into the hole and then you have oxygen flowing into your pores for your body to drink up!!!

Im not sure which type mine has. There is just a rectangular plastic thing attached to the wall inside and also a foot mat.
i have an ozone generator. it sounds very tempting. But I thought id read you had to be careful you don't damage the inside of your sauna doing this as it might not withstand the ozone??

Do the bag types have any off-gassing materials? Can you stick your head inside to treat your face?
Does anyone know the price for the Sunlight Solo portable. It's a cocoon shape to lie down in. No prices on website. Are bag or cocoon types available in Toronto stores? Which ones? If it's $1500 I wouldn't want it because I could get a one person cedar fir sauna for $1795 right now from Far North Saunas. Next week when the home show is over price increases by $1000.
I have a feeling I'll end up getting the regular size bag type for 299. Such a confusing business.

The Solo by Sunlight is very close to $2,000. I purchased the
Armana 2, by Sunlight, in basswood. It cost close to $3,200.
I have a friend who has the solo and she loves it. She wanted
a sauna that she did not have to put her head into. Although,
by entering it backwards you can encase your head.
I absolutely love mine. I was very surprised at the quality
and how easy it was to assemble.
Edit: I contacted Sunlight Sauna. The Solo, the 2 domes, sell for
