Iodine eats human tissue, it burns the skin. It should kill all the skin with the first application and if you applied it again the next day, it should hurt extremely bad like a burn because it would then kill the new skin being formed under the dead skin from the first application.
Odds are your using a very diluted form of iodine and if commercially made it may have wood alcohol as a method to make it not for internal use, etc..
It knows no differance between good and bad skin, it is acidic and will eat all tissue as far as I have ever seen. A drop does not cause enough damage that it will be noticed, the body quickly carries it away and makes new cells to replace the damaged cells.
Real Iodine burns but is seldom bad enough on the first application to notice, the upper layer of skin is killed and replaced rapidly.
