Hey Torrie:
I just ordered ALA and am planning to take it with BIOTIN. ( I have read ALA can cause BIOTIN deficiency)
I read a few cases where ALA caused GRAY HAIR. After supplementing with Biotin, the grays went away. This kind of scared me as I have premature gray hair. And I want to reverse my gray and not add any more.
Could the suplhur in ALA be causing grays. I want to try ALA, just as a multivitamin for added anti-oxidants. I am also planning to supplement with NAC(N-Acetly Cystein)
As long as all mercury is out of your mouth, it is safe to take I never had a problem with ALA. I would take 200 to 400mcg a day and see how it goes. I think that is plenty. I have only heard good things about it.
I asked Dr. Boyd Haley about ALA, told him about the other chelators I took to chelate mercury, and that I took ALA 200mg twice daily. I asked about the claims by Cutler that this amount and scheduling of ALA is dangerous. Here is his response: "ALA is a much needed natural product that is essential for the pyruvate dehyrodgenase complex in the Krebs cycle within the mitochondria. It is only dangerous if you use an excess, then it could behave like a detergent and cause problems." ______________________________ PABA is a B vitamin. In some studies, it retards hair loss and premature graying.
