Hello Everyone,
I started my
Water Fast a few days ago. I did 2 days of low-carb eating (shakes of rice protein and flaxseed oil) to get my body into ketosis to see if it would help getting through the first few days of fasting. It certainly did help. I think it made it easier. I have done several juice and
Master-Cleanse cleanses before and a few 3-day
Water Fasts in the past, but it has been a long time since I've done any fasting. I discovered that I was diabetic a few months ago and one of my goals is to see if I can improve this and maybe help heal my pancreas and restore it's function through fasting. I also have numerous other health issues that I would like to improve.
Day 1 really wasn't that hard. I actually did a light workout at the gym, no problem. Day 2 I couldn't do anything but rest all the time which was fine with me since I know that it is important to rest so that your body can use it's energy to focus on healing, so feeling tired is actually a good thing--it means your body is hard at work. I actually was so spacey on Day 2 that it felt a lot like being drunk. I couldn't focus on anything or even read a magazine, but I didn't feel too terrible.
My main goal is not about losing weight but it certainly would help. I couldn't believe when I weighed myself yesterday at the 2 1/2 day mark, I was down 8 pounds. I kept getting on and off the scale since I couldn't believe it. That just seems crazy. I started at 201.5 (at 5'8") which hasn't budged in months and when I weighed myself, I was 193.5. I know that rate of loss will diminish, but hey it feels great.
Anyway, after I weighed myself, I was still feeling so tired even after sleeping 7 hours, so I too a nap for about 30 minutes.
When I woke up, it was like a switch had been turned and I felt this incredible energy. I was able to walk to the grocery store to buy groceries and then I went home and cooked up a storm for my fiance.
I'm not sure how long I'm going to go for, but luckily I don't have to work right now and don't plan on going back to work until September some time. I don't have a set number of days to do the fast since I know from the past, that you need to listen to your body when it comes to these things. Right now I feel absolutely wonderful, but I know there will be healing crises to come. It's nice knowing that I don't have to be at work or anywhere, so I can rest and lay down any time I need.
I'm doing water only with the occasional pinch of Celtic
Sea Salt and I have different flavored herbal tea to drink in case I absolutely need a break from water only.
Anyway a cool site I found on water fasting:

Well good luck to all of you fasters out there.
