Last spring you gave me advice on the fertilizer to use on our hay field. You advised 18-46-0. My man had been using 25-8-8 in past years. Well, I want to tell you what a fantastic yield we got! Enough for ourselves and some for the neighbor who actually cut and baled it. And we will have a second cutting this year because we have had so much rain. So thank you! Now he did put down 23-46-0 and I wonder what it would have been like had he gone with your exact numbers but what an improvement. Of course rain helps! Although we have had almost too much rain, which makes me wonder why my garden has struggled some. I put down all the minerals you suggested, including compost but not the fish heads! My tomatoes are good but are on the small side. The corn is a flop. The rain would just beat them down and they were so water-logged. The squash was prolific. their leaves got yellow though. The green beans did not do well until the rain abated some and then they came to life. The okra is growing so fast now that I can't keep it picked fast enough. It is tender and good! The strawberries never really took off but it is their first year. I have bell peppers of various colors that I have not picked yet. The plant is not overly tall and has tons of bells that don't really grow much. The onions did not get very large either, but they are good. What I notice is that I can leave the newly picked produce on the counter for days and it does not go bad! It is really fresh! I never knew food could be this good. I am actually gaining some needed weight from eating these vegetables! Who would have thought that! This summer I am hardly eating meat. I have a vegetable/fruit centric diet with fish as a side dish. I think it is helping with alkalizing me.
Anyway much thanks for helping me get started growing my own food. Next year I will have more fruit. I was very afraid because I can kill a houseplant just by looking at it!
