Went to a class on relationships many years ago, and I remember this. Don’t recall the mans name that taught this.
THE 5 STEPS OF A RELATIONSHIP;
1: ROMANCE-This is when you first meet someone. Neither one can see any fault with the other, FEELS really nice. Everything is wonderful and blissful. Anyone that makes a decision during this time is CRAZY.
2: The POWER STRUGGLE-This does not mean who is going to be the boss. It is how much power am I going to allow you have over me, and how much power are you going to allow me have over you. Very few make it through this stage. You do see people get together during this stage and live miserably the rest of there time together. Any body that makes a decision during this stage is CRAZY.
3:ACCEPTENCE-This is where the romance is winding down, there is real love flowing we see the faults in each other and can live with them. Its getting close, but not yet. Any body that makes a decision during this time is CRAZY.
4:HARMONY-now we are there, There still is romance, but it is not the main focus. We have worked through the power struggle, and feel comfortable with what we have given and gotten. We accept the other in a very loving way. Go ahead MAKE the decision.
CO-CREATORS-This is where, wherever we go we create love. At the market, with friends, at a restaurant, church wherever. Doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does we know it.
HOWEVER- You can be anyone of these things at any time with anyone. Your child, dog, friend, cat, family member. Years ago I dated a women a half dozen times, and all we ever did was co-create. We never were sexual, although we did kiss a lot. We turned everyone on with our love. We then parted and went our separate ways knowing we had shared something special. I have spent most of my time in a power struggle not wanting any body to have any power over me.
It is fun to watch this transpire. I have 3 dogs, a male and female husky, and a female pure timber wolf. I was looking on the local S.P.C.A. site and saw this little male pure Aussie. He had been at the rescue for 3 months. They had gotten him from the pound where his kill date had been set. Well I went and got him. Now I have 4 dogs. I am sure he was a show dog. He is very quite, probably had a bark collar at one time, probably spent a great deal of his life in a crate. He doesn’t really know how to be a dog. He and I right away got into the romance and co-creator place. He got into a power struggle with the other 3. The other 3 accepted him right away. He now has accepted the 2 females, and is in the process of accepting the male. I think the 2 males got into a fight, the other night. They were both limping the next morning. I thought I heard a row about 1:30 a.m. He is learning how to be a dog, and doing quite well. We are headed for HARMONY yeah!!!!!!!
