ok i've been dealing with this problem for about a year. some things i have been doing lately really seem to be helping.
1) if you have acne, do not use
Acne soaps, scrubs, or anything like that. the salycilic acid or benzoil peroxides really make things worse.
2) use the most gentle soap you can find that has moisturizers in it. I was first using that dove soap, but then i got some of that minty kelp soap that someone in another thread talked about. i'm not sure how much it's helping but it smells good and it's not making me break out at all
3) when you wash your face, before you put the lather on mix in some moisturizer with the lather, then rub that on your face. it greatly reduces the harshness of even the most gentle soap. i just found this lotion that i like a lot at walgreens. its mostly aloe with some cucumber extract in it. plus it's only 99 cents.
4) immediatly after washing moisturize again. especially in the effected area.
5) get some sun. this entire summer i have been avoiding the sun, assuming it would make things worse, but the other day i went to an all day concert, got a little burned on my face, but right now my derm is completely gone.
6) don't wash your face more than 2 times a day. if you don't have any acne, then just wash it once.
7) when you shower don't use hot water, use the lowest temperature you can stand. i remember when i used to use hot water thinking that it would open my pores and help things, but the heat just made the areas with derm extremely red, and it would be worse for the rest of the day
i can't say anything about diet or anything like that
oh and i take biotin pills as well
i'm sure most of you know all of this, but i hope it helps someone
