I'm new to this forum, actually I acidently came across it today. And have question that poped up sudenlly in my mind. The question is: if some one does not have Herps at all, and fells in love with some one has active herps virus, Is that Ok then the question is if the one that does not have herps virus took anti herps virus pill every day like acyclovir and has active sex with his infected partener What is the odd that the noninfected can get the virus if he has unprotected this? Can that pill protect him or can it make him less likely to get the virus? any answer will be greatly appreciateed.- Good Question Hugo

This is a reply to # 930,683I've seen it come up before over on the discussion forums at racoon.com It probably makes more sense for the person who has herpes to take antivirals suppressively so as to reduce the likelihood of their shedding the virus. Transmission, based on a recent study, from an infected female to a male has less than a 4% risk PER YEAR if all the couple does is refrain from risky contact when symptoms are present. Adding suppressive antivirals cuts that risk at least in half.
