I've seen it come up before over on the discussion forums at racoon.com It probably makes more sense for the person who has herpes to take antivirals suppressively so as to reduce the likelihood of their shedding the virus. Transmission, based on a recent study, from an infected female to a male has less than a 4% risk PER YEAR if all the couple does is refrain from risky contact when symptoms are present. Adding suppressive antivirals cuts that risk at least in half.
