they are compiling an email list to mass mail and sell. nowadays anyone can publish their own book, so if it was that crucial, they would find a way. it is a marketing ploy.
and for anyone who signed the so-called petition, be prepared to have your email flooded until you buy their book later. below is the junk they send you initially. they use a technique i studied in college yrs ago. they take things that are not very exciting and word them so it sounds sensational. they also pick a subject that they know people will listen to and word it so it will sell.
do yourself a favor, just watch shows like 20/20, dateline and 60 mins, because they will do the same time of stories, only theirs are generall better documented. if you want a story done on fatal hospital mistakes, write to one of them and ask they do one. chances are, they already have, so look for it in their archives.
Fatal Hospital Mistakes Exposed
How to Ensure You and Your Loved Ones Don’t Become a Statistic
Thank you for signing the petition to publish ‘The Pandora Prescription’. Please note, the content of that book is NOT related to the subject of this report (the book is far more controversial)…
In this insider report, we will show you how to lessen the chances of your hospital killing you.
You wouldn’t think people entrusted with your care would kill you, but it happens regularly. A HealthGrades study recently showed that over a 3 year period 248,000 patient deaths were PREVENTABLE.
A study of 3.3 million births in California found that babies born late at night were 16% more likely to die than those born at daytime. Patients going into cardiac arrest at night were also more likely to die than those in the day. More medication errors happened at night. An analysis of 15 intensive care units showed that children admitted to them at night were more likely to die within 48 hours.
So what’s the problem with night admissions?
The main reason is lower quality and quantity of staff. Think about it; the more senior people have earned the right to be tucked up in bed during the wee hours. The night shift is often staffed with rookies who are often loathe to awaken senior people with a problem. The nightshift is where the newbies train. That’s right- and YOU’RE their experiment! Patients have been known to call 911 before, it took so long for someone to answer their call for assistance.
The other reason is fatigue. Have YOU ever tried working between 3am and 6am? Not just that- 24-hour shifts and 80 hour work-weeks are not uncommon for residents and interns (the junior people usually on nightshift). A recent Harvard study showed interns on nightshift injured themselves twice as much as those on dayshift. Researchers also found that people who worked 24 hour shifts had the performance of someone who was legally drunk (blood alcohol 0.10).
Advice:
and if you watch that youtube, you will see he gives a URL to a banned book website to supposedly support his proclamations. if you look into the banned books, they are not even what he is talking about. one is called hit list for children. "And Tango Makes Three" was another one (it is about homosexuality). we all know of certain books that libraries ban and they do it to protect children. sometimes they go overboard, probably. but it has nothing to do with this hospital fatality book this guy is speaking of. it is another marketing ploy, a diversion, linking part of what he is saying to a well known phenomenon and craftfully getting people to believe in the whole book banning thing in relation to his book he is promoting. it is apples and oranges. i am not saying they don't have a good book, i don't know, but the whole scare tactic, hidden-face drama on youtube is just that, a drama...designed to build up publicity for their book
