I wrote and posted this earlier today, but it seemed to have evaporated into the Internet Vaccuum.
Short version: have been battling toenail fungus for over a decade - no cute sandals and bare feet in my house, only. I tried the medical approach using that stuff that causes livers to fail. I took the medication for about 5 months and saw very, very minimal healing. Because I was concerned about the internal damage from the medication (someone, please, remind me of the name of the Rx!), I did not opt to refill the prescription.
I also tried a number of natural cures that didn't help, at all - once I stopped the prescribed medication, the fungus came back with a vengeance! Then...back in March, I was reading the discussions on
Iodine therapy. I began painting the affected nails with tincture of
Iodine - yes, plain, simple tincture of iodine. I would paint for one week, and lay off for about 3 weeks, and repeat.
Today, there is healthy nail growth and the nail bed is looking more normal than it has in over a decade. The healing process is going to take a long, long time, but it's actually the only effective thing that I've found. The
Iodine kills the fungus, leaving the affected areas of the nail quite dark and ugly, but I expect to be wearing a pair of really cute sandals this time, next year!
Once again (as always)...thank you so very much, Pioneers!
