CHELATION OF MERCURY
Removing the mercury fillings is half the battle of getting mercury out of your system. The other half, is chelation. It means taking supplements or drugs that pull mercury out of the body. Without chelating, mercury from your fillings that has accumulated in your brain, lymphatic system and organs, can remain there for 20 to 30 years. There are no supplement requirements before removal, but it is ok if you want to take, or are already taking, enzymes and/or acidophilus. According to the IAOMT, you can use Activated Charcoal as a once-off at the time of removal. It only helps with current ingestion of toxins and is not to be taken regularly. Charcoal works for ingested toxins and not inhaled vapors. Inhaled mercury vapor is still present in a dentist offices that use mercury/or removes mercury. Activated charcoal literally soaks up poison in the gut in case of accidental swallowing. It is not to be taken regularly. Take 5 grams fifteen minutes before the dental appointment starts and another 5 grams after. Expect black coloured stools. Activated charcoal is not absorbed nor digested. I have listed below the known chelators, mobilizers, and detoxifiers of mercury. You should not begin taking them until all of your mercury amalgam fillings have been replaced. A few months of chelating is normal; I did it for four months which I felt was adequate for me. I recommend chelating with Great Earth Vitamins; They are a licensed pharmaceutical company and I have been using them 20+ years. Click here I also recommend Enzyme Aid Digestive Cap or Tab by Nature's Life, as mercury depletes the body's enzymes. They will also help in digesting the chelating vitamins. Take 1 or 2 with the supplements and/or take 1 or 2 with a small meal, 2 or 3 with a medium meal and 3 or 4 with a large meal. They are available at most health food stores or www.natlife.com Supplements, foods, and compounds that contain sulphur can chelate mercury. Some examples are eggs, onions, cabbage, garlic, MSM, L-cysteine, Epsom Salt, sulpha-based drugs, some antibiotics. Use caution with these. It is best to avoid them if you still have mercury fillings; Hot springs contain sulphur compounds and should be avoided, as well. Hal Huggins told me the best way to get mercury out of the body is hot baths; So, before mercury fillings are removed, it is best to avoid them. Saunas are not a good idea until after removal, either. Start with one new supplement at a time. Take it for three days before beginning another supplement to ensure you have no adverse reactions. If you have reactions, try to lower the dosage. If that is not sufficient, seek professional advice. Try to take supplements that are natural, without preservatives, additives, or yeast. It is best to start off with one that not only mobilizes mercury, but also binds to it and takes it out of the body. I suggest starting with vitamin C. Chlorophyll also has this ability. Be aware that what often causes one to get ill when chelating with supplements is either focusing on one or two chelators, or taking one that only mobilizes the mercury, such as cilantro. This can cause mercury to circulate in your system, but redistribute it, with very little being released from the body. If you have had adverse reactions to Vitamin E, then start with the lowest dose available and take no more than 50-100 IU per day for the first 30 days. Discontinue Vitamin E if you experience adverse effects such as increased blood pressure. Some reports say that Vitamin C inhibits selenium absorption and thus selenium should be taken at least two hours apart from the Vitamin C. Most evidence says this does not occur. Should you choose to take them apart, it is ok to also take them together, such as in a multi-vitamin. Some individuals may react adversely to Selenium, so care should be taken. Be aware some garlic products contain selenium. DMPS and DMSA are provocation challenge tests. They test, as well as, chelate mercury. Dr. Thomas Levy is a cardiologist who co-authored Uninformed Consent with Hal Huggins. In the book, Drs. Levy and Huggins discourage the use of [these] synthetic chelators in general, and DMPS in particular. At page 252 they state: "Heavy metal chelators almost always overaccelerate the detoxification of the post-TDR (total dental revision) patient. DMSA, DMPS, and EDTA can all do this. DMPS is consistently the greatest offender here. Immune declines and clinical illness can result for weeks and sometimes even months after only one injection of DMPS". Dr. Levy...[says], "DMPS is an unqualified sledge hammer to the immune system." He referred to the administration of DMPS as an "assault". Dr. Levy believes that synthetic chelators should just plain be avoided most of the time. Most patients simply don't need them. http://www.dmpsbackfire.com/dmps/default.shtml *In recent years, DMSA has become available in much lower doses, and Hal Huggins DDS, MS and Thomas Levy MD, JD now approve of the use of DMSA capsules. Here is what Dr. Levy has to say, "In a nutshell, DMSA is fine if you take enough vitamin C and other antioxidant supplementation so that you are completely free from any negative symptomalogy from the ensuing release of toxins. A particularly good form of vitamin C for this purpose is lipsomal encapsulated vitamin C (livonlabs.com)"
