MoreThis is a reply to # 904,079It very up setting i notice i had hairs on my chin than i started getting alot more facial hair it looked like a breed,it started getting longer so now i cut it.I was told it could be the coil so i had it removed put i noticed last week im getting body hair.I dont think my body will get back to normal.

Yeah me too! I've paid a fortune for electrolysis.Grrrrr.... My Consultant said hormones either cause hair loss or hair growth it just depends on the individual. Sadly once the hair follicle is switched on you can't just switch it off so it's going to take a lot of sessions for me to keep my facial hair under control. Marvellous eh? I'm so self conscious about it and have avoided getting close to people when they talk to me. I'm fair haired and blue eyed so most wouldn't expect me to be able to grow a beard!I'm hoping the growth slows down now i've had the iud removed. Word of advice don't tweeze or wax as these treatment only encourage hair growth. Rest assured though other people won't notice it like you think they do, if you're anything like me you'll be overly self conscious about the whole thing. I promise you others won't see it as much as you think, if at all. Wishing you luck.

This is a reply to # 905,749Thank-you for your advice. Too late though I have already waxed. I too am very worried that others can see my chin hairs!!! I just had my IUD out 1 hour ago and once my hormones calm down I will try electrolysis. Doctors want to blame anything but this IUD. They love it and can't believe that people want it out. There are worse thing to get tha a period.

I have gotten facial hair for the past 4 years and I decided to do laser hair removal and paid the first $60.00 for 4 treatments and the rest $35. The doctor said that I would only need 4 to 6 treatments and i have been going for over a year now and the doctor was so shocked the last time I saw her May 07 that the area she has been treating hasn't subsided. I now know what it is from and all the money that I have spent. Well I am glad it is documented for me and I do hope once the IUD is removed i won't grow anymore. Good luck to all of you with having the IUD removed to stop the hair growth and loss.

Treatments normally in blocks of 10, 15, 20 mins etc. If only little hair 10 min session likely to do it.Treatments normally cost between £10-£30 per session though most people need regular treatments, depends on how fast your hair grows. Use a recommended technician, ie one who receves referrals from Dermatology Depts etc. as some so-called salons have poorly trained technicians who charge you for electrolysis but do little more than pluck the hairs. I was advised to never tweeze hairs but instead to cut hairs in between sessions, that way i felt less like a Yeti, ha ha. The hair grows back much finer and weaker as opposed to coarse thick stubbly hair growth you get from tweezing/shaving.

This is a reply to # 908,293I've had laser too ( don't think there's an avenue i haven't explored!)The hairs do come back but i found electrolysis to be more effective. Laser was supposed to be permanent but only works on very dark hairs, or so i was told. I don't have any scarring as a result of either treatment and i do have very sensitive skin. I do develop spots a day ot two after the electro treatment but after they've cleared up all is good. You have a test done somewhere you can't see to see how you will react to the electrolysis, so if you find you don't like the treatment ( you get used to it) or you're left with a scar you can quit the idea. Good luck with you decision making.

If only have a little bit of hair then a couple of sessions might do the trick. Elec reduces and slows the regrowth until it stops. I am pleased with the reults, but it's horses for courses i suppose. Some people are happy to tweeze daily or even shave. I wouldn't be happy about either as the hairs grow back blunt,sharp and stubbly. If you treat the area early then this reduces the number of treatments you need. It's a pain that hormones do this in the first place, i was very down about it at the start. Although i have to pay for treatment i feel loads happier after having it done, so for me it's definitely worth the money. Ask your dr. they might be able to refer you and get it on nhs/insurance?? This is a reply to # 916,804hi iv had two consultations with two different people at the same place,but i dont know what to think,the salon is well known but dont know anyone that as had electrolysis done there.cause i have fine blonde hair on my cheecks there said i should just have waxs there and do electroysis on my chin and electrolysis on the ends on my upper lip and waxs in the middle cause the middle is very pain full,i asked how long till hair free she said dont know as her clients been having it done for years,the chin might take 6 months dont know about upper lip.she only been doing it for 4years.but should she be telling me to waxs as i thought it was one of the worse things to do.what do you think of her?Advertisement
