I've taken the liberty to make some corrections and include the chinese character names of the herbs. I hope this helps others.

Recipe for making your own herbal tinctures:
Use about 150gr of herbs to about (almost) 1 liter of alcohol for consumption 35-50%, (Vodka will do), put it in a glass jar with a lid (make sure the herbs are covered with the alcohol). Put it in a dark, cool place and shake every couple of days. Start at new moon and let it soak for a month. After 3 weeks you can already start to take it.
strain the mixture throuh a cheese cloth and store the liquid in a dark glass bottle.
For Chinese Bitter use the Herb RADIX GENTIANAE (chinese name:Long DanCao) (龙胆草) also put in some BUPLEURUM (Chai Hu) (柴胡) - take ½ to 1 teaspoonful (about 5 mL) once daily on an empty stomach, 20-30 minutes before breakfast.
For Gold Coin Grass use HERBA LYSIMACHIAE (Jin Qian Cao) (金钱草) also put in some BUPLEURUM (Chai Hu) (柴胡) - take 1 tablespoonful (about 15 mL) once daily on an empty stomach, 20-30 minutes before breakfast.
For Coptis use COPTIS (Huang Lian) (黄莲) 1 teaspoonful (about 5 mL) to 1 tablespoonful (about 15 mL) once daily on an empty stomach before bedtime.
For Curcuma (yu jin) (鬱金) I used the spice Turmeric it seems to be the same. Put in some BUPLEURUM (Chai Hu) (柴胡). 1 tablespoonful (about 15 mL) once daily on an empty stomach before bedtime For me these recipes worked fine.
If you have a China Town nearby you can buy the herbs in bigger quantities. It can be very cheap buying in bulk. Gentianae cost me about 8 dollars a pound. The Coptis is more expensive. You can find more information on Julia Changs website: http://www.sensiblehealth.com/
