actually that is theoretical, whilst it is true rats live longer on a calorie restricted diet there are no long term studies done on humans. I am yet to be convinced calorie restriction is the key to long life, although it does seem to activate certain genes which promote long life the same effect can be achieved with red wine.
if the food we ate was pure and nutritionaly dense then i think calorie restriction would have some benefit, but today our soils and subsequently our foods are depleted in terms of nutrient levels compared to the same foods 50 or 100 years ago. in addition to that environmental factors such as pollution and electromagnetic frequencies disturb our bodies, so if we are not getting enough protection from the food we eat then our bodies will be more vulnerable.
i once read that
juicing is benefical because it takes 5 of todays apples to equal in terms of nutrition 1 apple 50 years ago, in my opinion the food of today is simply not nutritionaly dense enough to provide sufficent protection in a toxic world on a calorie restricted diet. i have seen many examples of people who followed calorie restriction for a large portion of their lives yet still died early.
the problem i have with the rat studies is whether they accurately reflect what will occur in a human body, humans do not live in a controlled environment like the lab rats and so are exposed to lots of other factors which may affect lifespan.
