Distilled water-cooked Silver Colloid and Xylitol seem to be quite effective. The trick was finding non-protein
additives that will work with Silver Colloid, and Xylitol seems to fill the bill. But not everybody has access to Silver Colloid so there are other options.
I'd go to Osco and get several Saline nasal sprays and use a permanent marker for each person's use. I got an 8
oz. jug of Jarrow's XyliPure, straight Xylitol crystals, for $7 at Wild Oats health food store and added a small amount, 1/8 tsp., to an Osco "Equate" 1.5
oz. Saline spray preserved with Benzalkonium Chloride. I would suggest 1/8 tsp. of Zicam nasal spray added to the mix if infection is persistent and you don't have access to silver colloid. Halve that for wee ones to be conservative. All this is rather harmless and represents a very conservative protocol.
There is a nasty naso-pharyngeal bug going around that drips into the lungs and can induce pneumonia. This camps out in the zone between the rear of your nose where it meets your swallower at the back of your throat and nasal spray is needed to reach it.
Antibiotics don't seem to work. It seems to be a virus that respondes to Lysine, the amino acid in corn, and a very cheap supplement. It should be safe for toddlers at a quartered 1000 mg. or 250 mg. dose. I'd use 500 mg. for kids over 60
pounds and 1000-2000 mg daily for adults. Crush 'em for ease of swallowing, please.
There are postings here on the use of an eBay-purchased nebulizer for Silver Colloid if there is lung involvement. Don't mix Zicam Zinc spray with Silver Colloid to avoid creating mystery silver compounds that can be somewhat irritating. Zicam Zinc spray is already somewhat irritating so just use this little bit with the Saline and Xylitol as it is also quite effective in small doses.
This Xylitol stuff works fast, though. The Xylitol is somewhat sticky and I'd be sure not to add a lot thinking it would act more effectively as a small amount works fine and we don't want to gum up the lungs with Xylitol from sinus drip. This very conservative formula-1/8 tsp. Xylitol to 1.5
oz. Saline-should do it with the added 1/8 tsp. Zicam Zinc spray added if you want to amp it up. I would use a three step program of plain Saline, Saline + Xylitol, and Saline + Zicam.
