They can totally cut it out - you will probably get the lovely vertical cut though considering it's size. Whenever you hear - " hysterectomy = only option"...get ANOTHER opinion.

Hysterectomy is NOT the only option for treating fibroids. A myomectomy will remove the fibroids and keep your uterus etc. intact, and there is a newer procedure that you can read about here:

Many doctors do not do either of these procedures and will only recommend a hysterectomy. Find a doctor who can evaluate you for either of these options.
