i have been using walmart distilled water with good success. also, sears has a distiller they sell for $129 and put on sale(should be soon) for $50 of of that. it is a throw away model but some people have used ot for years with no problem. it probably depends on how clean you keep it. if you get one, throw the charcoal filter away - it contaminates your pure water as you make it!
