I went on a juice fast on January 7th. My plan was to fast for 14 days. I had a reaction to something unknown on day 5. At first I thought it was a reaction to a pear/kiwi I had juiced.
The symptoms were Periorbital edema (swelling around the eyes) along with dermatitis (or eczema) - scaling, flaking, weeping, color changes (red) and itching around my eyes and a patch on the right side of my mouth and chin.
The main book I follow for fasting is Juice Fasting and Detoxification By Steve Meyerowitz, and I have fasted several times in the past. When I fast I do enemas (including coffee retention), dry skin brushing, walking and several things to detox.
In other words, I know what I am doing when fasting....
I am a very healthy person, according to the numbers on my blood tests (all in the optimal range) and normally I eat an extremely healthy diet, along with plenty of pure water, exercise, etc., etc.
However I am 63 years old.... When I was in my twenties or early 30's I had a similar rash - milder - in cold weather mostly.... so when this recent reaction happened, I thought it probably was a "healing event" - I have had them before, when an old 'something' appeared for a couple of days and then went away.... so I went back to fasting a few more days.
Anyway this edema/eczema didn't go away.... it would get better, and than worse... alternating between the two.
The one thing I was waiting to do when I was completely back to normal with my eating, was a liver flush. I was thinking I didn't want to do 'fats' (olive oil) until then. My rash was getting worse and worse.... it was painful and very scarey looking. I can't begin to tell you how horrid it was... it was even bleeding sometimes.
Well last night I decided that I have waited long enough for the liver flush, even though I am still in phase 2 of breaking the fast...(fats and oils are in phase 3).
This morning I passed hundreds of off-white stones, some 1/2
inch to 3/4 inch, a few green 1/2
inch. I also had peach colored, about an
inch long, globs of mucus... about a cup of waste material after rinsing several times....
My rash felt different instantly... I know this was the 'cause' of the rash! It feels SO MUCH better! The burning, weeping, swelling and pain is gone. Now it's a matter of the skin healing....
Don't forget your LIVER FLUSH.... I never waited so long in the past, but since I just did a detoxing in November with a 13 day fast and liver flush, I thought it would be ok. This last flush was number 11 or 12 in the past 3 years.
I lost about 15 or 16
pounds on this fast... fat stores toxins and I know this is why there was so much yucky stuff in my liver.
The
Liver Flush protocol I use is the easiest one I have ever read about and it is always successful for me. Link:
