Hello everyone,
I came across the AVM & Aneurysm website while browsing the Internet looking for answers. I am a 56 year old male who has been diagnosed with an intracranial aneurysm while performing an MRI scan in Hong Kong. It was found incidentally.
I have already done a CT Angiogram and the results validate the 3.2 to 3.9mm aneurysm with a wide neck. The report states that this is an unusual location and appearance for an aneurysm. The report summary is as follows:
“The intracranial left internal carotid artery revealed a 3.5 mm x 4.5 mm superior hypophyseal aneurysm on the posterior portion of the cavernous ICA with a broad neck below the origin of the ophthalmic artery. There is a prominent PCOM with filling of the posterior cerebral artery.”
My questions are as follows:
1. Does this area pose great danger for rupture from past occurrences?
2. If and when it ruptures at this particular location, will the SAH cause stroke or death?
3. I am told to wait for 6 months to 1 year for another CT angiogram. Is this a good idea? While waiting for it to grow, I am scared that it will bleed or rupture given the size. What would you do in my case?
4. Could you possibly recommend me the top three doctors in the USA that are able to do the coiling for me since doctors in Asia have limited knowledge and expertise about the procedures?
I thank you in advance for any answers or recommendations that you can give me. Many thanks to all of you and Happy New Year!
I've attached an image of the Angiogram for your viewing. I am scared!!!
