My tooth #13 is all gone but some residual root. I plan to remove all amalgams in my mouth next month. The dentist told me I had to remvove the root tip as well.

Is the right way to remove the tip is the same way to extract a tooth, not just the tooth but also the perio ligaments as well? How can I make sure the dentist remove the ligaments?

What if I just leave the root tip there until I decide to wear a partial?
