With all the talk about fillings I wonder about my tongue ring? When I first got it I had some people tell me that it was just plain unhealthy to have metal in your mouth touching all of your food and such. I didn’t think much of it because after getting it done I wasn’t about to take it out.

Now that I’ve had it for about 9 years I sometimes thing of letting it go but haven’t been able to yet. I’ll take it out sometimes only to miss it in a day or two and put it back.

Do you think this might have any or the same effect as fillings? Or cause any coating of the tongue? Right now I just drag dental floss across my tongue to get any coating off but have though of buying a scraper. I think I would have to remove my piercing everyday to do that correctly though and am just wondering if any one has any opinions on the matter.
