This forum makes me feel dark and angry inside when I read supersports posts. He's trying to be a missionary, not trying to debate. You can sum up every one of his posts with 'god is great, hell and damnation on all you unbelievers'

I'm not saying it's bad to be interested, I'm interested. Sometimes though it seems that people don't realize when they're stuck and just spinning their wheels and going nowhere. Everybody knows that there are highly intelligent/well-educated atheists and fundamentalist christians. I was raised Catholic but consider myself to be agnostic. Both sides can be equally obnoxious.

That in and of itself doesn't constitute proof. That's the same type of thinking that a person uses to prove to themselves that the horoscope crap in the newspaper is legitimate. It's called seeing what you want to see. Or in the medical world the placebo effect, the power of suggestion etc. I don't try to convince God people that they should become atheist. Some of their claims and thought processes though are just as weird as the overly enthusiatic supporters of so-called "natural/alternative" medicine. Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't make it a fact.
