There is some confusion here. Basic EM produts, which contain live
flora, such as EM culture and AEM and SAEM, and some EM brews,
contain both live beneficial microbes --- which can indeed act as
probiotics in the gut -- and also a wide spectrum of raw food-form
antioxidants, energy substances and other nutrients such as minerals
and trace elements.
On the other hand, specialized supplements made with EM, such as
EM-X, have been sterilized and microfiltered, and thus do not contain
significant quantities of beneficial microbes, although they may
contain some antioxidants and some other nutrients.
