Our male bulldog got an infected scratch from one of our other dogs (very raw and grew to the size of 1/2 a lemon on his cheek). He's always had a difficult time getting rid of infections...and has usually been given
Antibiotics by the vet. We decided to try some alternative treatments. First my husband would put
Bentonite clay on it, then applied
Colloidal Silver , and then teatree oil. It took about 5 days to start healing as less and less puss came out. Now about 9 days later it is almost completely healed. I'm thrilled because we really didn't want him to take
Antibiotics again. I'm sure that the accumulation from prior problems has run down his immune system.
Perhaps others out there have used some good remedies that they could share. My brother-in-law's dog had such a bad infection that it was eating away at muscle tissue (infected porcupine quill). The vet sent her home to die but he repeatedly soaked her in
Epsom Salts until finally the huge infection burst and she completely healed. She is now very old and blind, but pampered and happy!
Antibiotics are certainly less work, but they are surely as bad for animals as humans. I've noticed that Vets are pretty good pill pushers too.
