Of course not. These are scenarios designed to give posters an idea of desperate situations that would cause women to seek an abortion. While abortion is a horrible thing, sometimes desperate times cause for desperate measures.

Many posters keep talking about abortion used as birth control. Women, at least in America, just do not view it as such. They view it is a last resort to a desperate situation.

Supersport thinks it's a no brainer. He would rather discourse on the depravity of these women. What he doesn't understand is that its fear that drives women to abortion. How can we alleviate the fear?...perhaps if these three women were able to use resources available to them, such as churches or counseling, however, many women just feel caught in the horror of the whole situation. A woman who has been raped by her stepfather is so traumatized, how could she think clearly enough to seek other help? Same goes for the other two scenarios. Of course, MichelleT just thinks the ex-junkie needs to be in jail where they can deal with the baby.

In summation, abortion is a terrible fix to a further horrible problem. None of these women would be better off having an abortion, however they might feel the need to do so. If abortion was illegal, and that option was completely gone, then can you imagine each scenario played out? Perhaps the wife would kill herself, or be harmed by her abusive husband? Perhaps the ex-junkie would lose her government assistance and end up back on the streets with a crack baby? Perhaps the young girl would have tried to end the pregnancy herself? All these things could happen, if they did not at least have the option to decide.

I'm talking options here. Not the absolute of abortion per se.
