I agree, abortion should never be used as birth control.

Even in extreme circumstance (rape, incest, deformity etc) it should be thoroughly thought through. And most of all the medical establishment should speak truthfully to the woman and tell her all the effects she may experience after having an abortion.
These effects are:
Depression
Anxiety
Increased cervical and Breast Cancer risk
Sepsis/infection
Shock
Death
Intense Bleeding
Placental, Uteral, or Cervical Infection or Rupture
Reduced Fertility

Not only that, the fetal tissue from abortions are used in the name of "science and medicine", to play with genes, make pharmaceuticals such as vaccines. YUCK!

I am a woman and I believe abortion is always wrong. But, I also believe that the father should be held to the same standards of child care (babysitting,feeding, cleaning, diapers,etc) as the mother, not go off to work and leave the mother with it. The reason abortion exists is the inequity between the parents. The father keeps his job, his life, his free time, freedom, and the mother gets all the responsibilities and sacrifices. The mother's education and career should not suffer because of a child. I believe employers should give new mothers (and fathers!) a year's leave with pay as they do in other countries and hold her job for her. And all religious institutions, such as churches, synagogues, mosques, schools, hospitals, whatever, should have free day care, because they exist to serve people.

I agree that abortion takes the life of an unborn child in a violent and hostile way and is primarily used as a convenient form of birth control.

When my nineteen year old daughter found out that she was pregnant, to her credit, she never once considered abortion as an option. When word got out that she was pregnant...SIX couples came forward and offered to privately adopt her baby. There are so many couples that want children and cannot have them! Adoption is such an unselfish act and a sacrifice that women are not willing to make, so abortion just becomes a convenient, guilt-free solution - or so they think! Having been down that road myself, I can say that women are deceived about this!

I don't know all the answers...I think education is absolutely necessary - and more clinics and centers that promote true "choice". Statistics show that once a woman sees an ultrasound of her unborn child, she is significantly less likely to abort - so to make ultrasounds as available as abortions would help.

Ideally, our government would protect the rights of all humans and not just some, including the unborn and would make it illegal to obtain an abortion. There have been situations where an individual has been convicted of murder when their crime involved the death of a child in the womb of a woman, and yet it is legal for a woman to choose to end the life of her child. It seems to me that the issue is not one of choice...but rather one of "wanted" or "unwanted"; "planned" or "unplanned".

I feel fine with limiting the number of "birth control" abortions if it addresses the problem at its roots.

If it teaches women, and men, the true value of human life.
If it teaches young girls how to be proud of themselves. How to take care of themselves. How to NOT deny their instinctual and natural feelings. If it teaches them how to be connected to their Higher Power. If it teaches them they have nothing to be ashamed of.

If it instills in all humans the intrinsic truth that we are all of the same awesome spiritual matter, only in different form. If the women involved are raised with enough love, compassion and acceptance to truly understand the consequences of their actions, and be able to handle the responsibility if an 'accident' happens.

If the men involved are raised with enough emotion as the women and would not have to make this choice at all.

Do you see what I'm getting at? It is not for law to govern. Nor will that bring ANY sort of solution. It is not for governments, it is not for any tribal mindset which can encompass many groups from communities to religious organizations, nor is it for the collective conscious to decide.

It is an individual choice, one which would not have to be made if we hadn't chosen the harsh seperation we now experience.

Want to stop abortion? Teach our young women and men to truly love themselves, mistakes and all, to truly value their lives, teach them they are not alone, teach them there is no need for discrimination of any kind, teach them community, guide them to their own unique expression and creativity. But we must first live this example. Then maybe you will save another life.

P.S. Why should the life of a child of rape, the life of a child of disease, or the life of a child 'damaged' hold less value than a 'normal' child and so be deserving of human termination?

I read this somewhere ( maybe i read it on curezone even)that really made me think, even though i've always been pro life..
Women say that it is their body and they have the right to choose. OK, what if the aborted baby was a little girl? Then they have taken away that little ladies right to choose. I had never heard it said like that even though in my mind it doesn't matter the sex of the baby. It's still murder. But i wonder how a pro choice would argue this point? Also, i always hear if i'm gonna adopt all those babies if abortion is outlawed. How about the government giving out big tax incentives to those who adopt for like the first 5 years of the babys life up to 2 children per family. You never know until you try what could be worked out. I don't have any children of my own , but i have 3 stepchildren and i have always loved them as my own, so i know a little what it would be like.

I would think that during the first trimester it should be ok. Because during that time, a fetus is just that, a fetus. It hasn't developed any farther than a bunch of cells. Its not a baby and doesn't have intelligence yet.

When you are cooking eggs for breakfast do you consider it killing a chick, or nothing like that at all? The egg is about at the same point as the fetus during those first months. nothing dveloped, just a bunch of cells.

Obviously you are entitled to your own opinion, this is a free country, and thank god for that.. because the fact that you think that only certain people should be allowed to have abortions.. and only a certain number of times is anything but freedom.. Who says that anyone but ME should be in charge of MY body? Chances are that if someone is getting an abortion, its for a good reason.. because that person can't care for a child, would you rather a person say who was raped, suffer through the emotional pain of caring a child of her rapist then have a child of her rapist, raise that child, only to resent him/her and that child would be messed up for life.. even if you consider adoption.. she would still be asked to carry that child and be in emotional and physical pain that she didnt ask for. And it doesnt matter anyways, because it isnt up to you.. its every individual woman's personal descion, yours is no, mine might be yes.. if you dont like it.. try living in kenya, where women are raped by fathers and strangers and have to get unsafe abortions and many of them die because they dont have their right to have safe abortions.
