I have a concern and a question. I advised my mom to start taking coconut oil a little over a month ago. She did. She has had high cholestrol for years, but never high LDL's. Shortly after starting the CO, she had a doctor's appt. to check her lipids and all, and was told that her total chol. was high and her LDL's were HI for the 1st time. She believes that it was because of the
CO and has decided to stop using it all together.
When I first researched
CO I read somewhere that lipids can appear to go up, and you could even gain weight in the beginning, but then after consistent use, things would settle down and become normal. I use CO, as well, but I usually use it for cooking and smoothies, and such, and will not be getting my annual physical for a few months yet, so I won't know if my lipids have changed or not. I was wondering if anyone else has had lab tests that show a spike in their lipids early on and a normalization later, or if anyone has seen ANY effects on lipids by CO? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
