I am undergoing infertility treatment, and find that I have been
put on birth control pills (Levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol) -days 5 - 26 of this cycle! I was not sure of the reason behind having to take contraceptives as part of an infertility regime but was unable to speak to my doctor (not accessible). So, I called the phamacist and he said that this could be prescribed to lower LH levels. I am a known PCOS patient and have had 2 miscarriages (and a suspected 3) in the past 3 years. Could the doctors here please help me understand why I am on this contraceptive and if the pharmacist was right?

This is a reply to # 66,298Are you sure your doctor is on the same page with you? I've heard of women who DON'T want to get pregnant using it as a part of PCOS treatment, but never as part of trying to conceive. When I went through infertility treatment (I have PCOS too) it involved taking dexamethasone to get my androgen levels down and Clomid to make me ovulate. - Re: Contraceptive pills as part of i... iainlansdell

This is a reply to # 66,298thats very interesting because i believe it helped me.
My husband had a very low sperm count due to chemotherapy and we had unprotected sex for 11 years with no results. Because I was going on holiday and didn;t want my period to interfere with me having a good time i went on the pill for 2 months, the weird thing is that as soon as I came off it i became pregnant!
