We are wanting to make pickles from the Nourishing Traditions book, but are wondering if there is any way to make them last longer than a few months. Any suggestions?
No clue. I made some in early September and am still eating them now in mid-April. That's not bad, I think. They aren't as crunchy as they were before but that's all. I'm on my last jar. Hopefully I can grow a lot of cucumbers myself this year and make pickles out of those!!!
We are wanting to make some from our cucumbers that we grow in the garden. If you made them in Sept. and are still eating on them, then that is pretty good. Did you store them in the fridge the whole time?
Sandor Katz recommends tannin rich grape leaves in your pickle jar to keep them crunchy. I'm wondering if a few tea leaves wouldn't do the same thing? Worth trying! Tea pickles might be yummy!
