Why better? Very simple- it's real thing. When you have kefir culture starter, you have a refined product- let it be natural with no artificial stuff, but it is not real thing. When you have real kefir grains in your palm, you know- it's a deal, it is a raw living, alive, wonderful creature you have! I, personally don't need much biochemical knowledge to realize I am better of with real kefir grains rather than with kefir powder.
I had kefir from both, culture and real grains. Taste- wise both taste superb, although kefir from real grains have their own subtle distinct taste. Still, my whole intuition tells me, go for real grains only! I have, I bought and I enjoy cultured milk from them soo much. I add hemp powder, spirulina, drop few drops of stevia, shake and- voila! Nutritionally, raw organic kefir from real kefir grains is the second best food from animal kindom right after raw egg yolks.
If you get your own kefir grains, yes, you can grow them yourself! If taken good care of- they last forever! Think about that! With what other food you can do this?!?
So, get kefir grains and start kefiring, you will not regret!
