Sorry to hear the trouble you have encountered, physicians can be very lacking when it comes to knowledge of nutrition. This is all too common and very sad, because it is the best way to heal. In your case, it is better to take "unqualified" advice from this message board or search the Internet on your own. As to not waste your time, I will tell you only as much as I know off the top of my head.

Candida is a growth of yeast in the body, which I know can be caused by the overuse of Antibiotics . Antibiotics kill bacteria or germs, which simply accompany illness. Physicians routinely cover up symptoms and produce more problems in the body by prescribing drugs and Antibiotics . Herein lies the problem, doctors treat symptoms and cover up illness...there is no money to be made in treating the real cause. Bacteria, viruses, and genetics do not cause illness. Immune systems can heal miraculously when there is a good supply of live enzymes from raw foods, lack of toxins, and a positive natural environment...tell anyone saying otherwise to prove me wrong. I suggest eating any meat or dairy products sparingly or not at all, and focus on the quality of your fresh fruit and vegetable intake. This is a very general, but unbiased answer. here is a tea i would reccomend
for thrush:

one tablespoon pau ' arco bark
one cup water.

place herbs in a GLASS pot and cover w/ water
let soak overnight.
then boil for 10 minutes tops.

strain off herbs.

use a mouthful at a time
swish liquid in mouth for
a couple minutes before swallowing.

(i think in your case, the extract would be best)
(you can put a few drops in his drink now and then)
try to make a game of it, get him to *swish his drink in mouth
befor swallowing to get it on tongue area
