I 've been having sore pain under my left ribcage right around the spleen area for a few weeks. It comes and goes and gets very sore. I had a bowl of lentil soup this evening and had a little nausea, sore pain under the left rib, raised heartrate, cold extremities, clammy hands and feet, and poor color. These attacks have been happening for a while, but I didn't really notice the correlation with food until recently.
I was recently diagnosed with bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine and have had reflux, sometimes severe the past year with bloating and gas after eating. I treated with an anitbiotic but it didn't help. I am now on a protein and vegie diet and then began to notice the rib pain. I also recently saw a renowned Dr. of Chinese Medicine who put me on a regimen of herbs (antibacterials, antifungals, immune boosters). I've felt improvement with the herbs, but am wondering if maybe the spleen & liver are having a hard time with the herbs (too much cleansing?). I may have to go to the my regular Dr. tommorrow to have an ultrasound and CBC. Maybe because I cut out most carbs, my body is having a hard time digesting my protein. I've lost weight and am too thin (162 pnds 6'ft Male 37 yrs old). I also had hypoglycemic attacks, but they have somewhat stopped since I started cutting out all
Sugar and most carbs. Tonight I bought some fermented vegies (cabbage, carrot etc...fermented for a week) which had some red pepper in it (spicy) and I ate some and then had the lentil soup, and thats when the attack i described above happened. I'm not sure what to do as I've been eating homemade stocks with vegies and organic chicken and lamb. Can't be eating healthier?!?!? My extremities are almost always cold now. I had two drinks last night (beer and a vodka) and haven't been drinking at all and wonder if this had much to do with it (Pancreas?).
Maybe this is pancreatitis? The symptoms sound spot on. My blood tests recently were pretty normal except for low platelets, and mildly low white count (I've had for years). Could also be a kidney or liver problem? Though I've never had elevated enzymes.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris
