I got this out of dr. airola book "how to get well"
This is an excellent book, picked it up at a book fair.
Vegetable Broth
2 large potatoes, chopped or sliced to approximatley 1/2 inch
1 cup carrots, shredded or sliced
1 cup celery, chopped or shredded, leaves and all
1 cup any available vegetable,
beet tops, turnip tops, parsley or a little of everything.
However broth can be made with just potatoes, carrots and celery.
Add some garlic, onions and/or any of natural herbal spices.
Put all vegs. in a stainless steel utensil, add 1 1/2
quarts of water. Cover and cook slowly for about 1/2 hour.
Strain, cool until just warm and serve. If not used immediatley, keep in fridge and warmup before serving.
Vegetable broth is one of the standard beverages in all biological clinics in Sweden. Fasting patients always start the day with a big mug of vegetable broth - a cleansing, alkalizing and mineral rich drink.
I also have another very old book by health guru Gayelord Hauser.
This book was written in the '50's.
When i find his recipe for Hauser broth i will print it here.
He believed as did Mildred Carter (BODY REFLEXOLOGY) that all meals should be fresh foods and that each meal should start with a salad and end with fresh fruit.
This is actually an approach that used to be followed at health spas in earlier part of the 20 century.
I think there is alot we can learn from people of that time. They did eat healthier, (hence not much in the way of junk food then)
ENJOY, I HAVE IN THE PAST. I think i will start making it again.
