I was just bullied out of the 'Biblical Christianity Forum ' for questioning something I noticed as a particularly damaging habit some of the 'christians' had towards 'non-believers'.
Is free speech allowed here? Or when I express an opinion, will I be marked as someone who 'judges' and gives off a 'bad witness'? Sorry if I seem a little miffed. I am hurt. As Daizy4 told me how she was a bit naive and tried to share with them,so was I. I went in vulnerable, and came out verbally flogged, accused and humiliated. Completely turned my words of 'admonition' (loose definition--hey guys, let's work on this) around to be "useless debate", and not worthy of another reply. If all we were supposed to talk about there was flowers and butterflies, I wish that had been in the title somewhere, maybe 'Biblical christianity pacification'. If any one of you saw a friend, loved one about to make a big mistake, and they asked you to support them in that mistake, would you agree to, even if it was hurtful to them? Sometimes 'support' isn't rosy.
It weighs heavily on my heart that the 'representatives' of this religion are so hurtful to their own. When I see 'biblical Christianity Support Forum ' I think, "Hmm, I can share something I have been awaKened to. I can show people how I used to have this particularly bad habit, and have just been shown that it wasn't a very helpful thing to do." I share and SLAM. Shut out. Very hurt indeed. I intend to be different. I intend to choose. I intend to be a loving light.
On a brighter note, not to end downward, hello to the friends I met from the 'Atheist Debate' forum. Thank you for accepting this human.

Many people learn to wear Christ on their sleeve.
Their family has been in the same church for generations and they learn all the right things to say and do. They always "fit in". But do they really understand?
Matthew 25 is speaking of this. The ten virgins are the church. Some live up to (or try) what the Holy Spirit tells them. Some just go through the motions.
You can't tell the difference to look at them, because they know all the right things to say and do.
But in the end they won't have what it takes to get them through the darkest hour just before Jesus comes.
We should love and support each other, but that isn't all we are told to do.
If your neighbor's house was on fire and he didn't know it you would try to get him out alive. It wouldn't be a good idea to yell hateful things and drive him deeper into his burning house!- EXACTLY! Nice house analagy too. bringasmilesara

Yeah, I would like to actually discuss a few of my own thoughts on many of the veiws of christianity, but to do that one has to have a relatively open mind. I am not asking people to 'forsake' Christ, just challenge yourself in what you believe, that's all!

This is a reply to # 638,426you are most welcome here. I am not as active as before, due to time constraints, but this is a good forum for tossing around ideas, especially from THINKING people! Note especially posts from Blue Stone, Wrenn, Lapis and Wiz. Some have not posted for some time. You may have to go back a bit.
and you are correct....SLAM is the right word for your experience. Isn't it so interesting, though? I am been able to detach from their reactions, and observe with curiousity the fear-based responses. That the religion, whose foundation (Jesus), is about LOVE, the "followers" could act as such.
If you speak exactly their language, you will get all "flowers and butterflies" back, but do not dare go within and get inspired ("in Spirit") and then share your new insight with them! ("The Kingdom of heaven is within....") HERETIC!! The phrase "burned at the stake" comes to mind....
I can really relate to your shock. Because I did not practice the same, exact form of Christianity that they did, specifically fundamentalism, they deemed that I was not in the "club", and told me to go to the Hindu forum.
So.....in my frustration to be able to have open, enlightened discussions, showing that there were other types of Christians out there (my background is Catholic) I asked the moderator for another forum. It is rarely visited, by myself included, but the point was made that there is another way to look at Christian ideas, with an open mind and heart.
Anyway, they are where they are, (and it is perfect for them for now) and after you get over the hurt, a deep understanding of their process will come..... and all souls will eventually come..... because we are One.

You were not run away from the Christian Support Fourm. We invite you to share your convictions freely with a good and kind attitude. The Christian Support Forum is awesome and is visited by folks that support one another and know the Word of God. So, if you are ready to learn and share you are welcome. We will not debate much though. This is the place for that. Also, we will not tollerate name calling or degrading attitudes. We saw the less then sweet attitude from the beginning.

As in any army, the Lord Jesus Christ doesn't want any "punks" in his army. He wants strong soldiers ready to do battle, and trust me, we will. We, as Christians, have to have discernment of the motive of others (particularly the ones who SAY they want to be Christian) b/c the devil is conniving, ruthless, insidious, evil, and bad. You are more than welcome to come to the Biblical Christianity Support Forum (Support was emphasized b/c that's what it is, it isn't for debate.) with any questions, comments, issues, ideas, etc. you may have about Christianity if you have a sincere heart that desires the Word of God. Judging from your post, you do. But you have to show respect to us, as well. We are not stupid, nor are we ignorant of the devil's devices.
I'll leave it at that, but I do hope, if you're sincere, that we can support each other in our walk with Jesus.

I saw the humor, but for a believing Christian there really isn't humor. This is because in the Bible it teaches that the spiritual realm is at war. The war of good and evil. Just as in this world you physically see good and physically see evil. In the spiritual realm there is unseen good (angels) and unseen bad (demons).
This is usually mocked, and tried to make humorous. Your point was not missed. It just gets tiring when my faith seems to the subject of constant mockery.
I know some would think I may not pick up on these things, but I do actually enjoy a good laugh and my sense of humor is one of the things that keep me going in this life...maybe we'll share jokes some day.

Actually one percieves good and evil as a conditioned response to internal or external stimuli. It is based on a conjured association.
There is major irony in the idea of a god that "demands" love or else.
How does one reconcile that in one's psyche?
Fearfully motivated "faith" in a monster? Scared into worship?

So then in your mindset "god" created a spiritual war scenario? And this is a loving ideal? Me thinks *this* god needs a psycho analyst.
So from the same reference book we have the idea of uncompassionate love juxtaposed with vengence and wrath? Am I getting through or is it not polite to question the emperors cloths?
One thing I will say at this time, is that I truely apreciate that you are not cutting and pasting scripture. You are at least thinking for your self which is always an important step in reclaiming one's spirituality away from corporate structure and power.

You just don't get it; you're asking all the wrong questions. You think you're so smart, but you don't have a clue.
For instance, what if I were to tell you that God loves you enough to trust that you will make the RIGHT choice in this life? He loves and trusts in you that much. Here is the choice by free will He is giving you: Given that there is a devil, who is evil, whom will you follow? him or our loving God. Think about it.
It's so simple, yet so profound, that's why most people can't comprehend it. Trusting in Jesus is for the humble, NOT for the proud. Maybe you're starting to see now, but if not, well, I'll be praying for you that you come to see the Light of Christ some day. {Please don't take that offensively, as I am not trying to evangelize you, but my faith does compel me to pray for the lost. I am saying that in a humble and grateful way b/c I was once lost too.}

I will say though that God never demands anything. It is our choice what we will do. Just like it is our choice what we will believe. It is very easy to gain the wrong ideas about God when you have read scripture out of context and base your knowledge on articles that debunk Christianity.
Your minds are already made up concern this, so I will not further discuss this with you. But I'd love to discuss health with either of you - now that is our common territory!

But you see the choice is weighted. It's like building a maze and placing rats in it. If these rats don't make it out the other end, then they are thrown away, or worse yet, tortured in an endless hell. Technically they have a choice, but the motivation behind the creation of this "reality" is where the truth can be realized. Love me or else.

I didn't mean to sound so belligerent, but I was trying to make a point that we, as Christians, cannot and will not let the devil just have his way if we can help it. We are prepared to "stand" in that day.
Ephesians 6:11-18 (KJV)
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This is a reply to # 638,449So hearing what all these people are saying I get that picture too "MWA A AAAHHH I will crush you if you get outta line" God. The difference lies though in which strain of belief the certain christian has. You know the old debate of Calvin vs. Armenian (sp?).
Basically, just how much power did God give humans in this life? Those who hold fast to calvinism seem to look at this life almost as God as the master puppeteer. That we can't do anything to change the course of our life. That we have no bearing on the direction we go in this life. That-- I think-- is the majority of posters here. I however as you probably infer believe God gave us much more choice and power than we can ever imagine...we will never reach our potential --especially if we stay stuck in the mind set that God is the controller period.
And that we should fear him and owe him something. The 'Old Testament' (the verses in the bible explaining how life was before Christ arrived on the scene) is where it is spoken of the "fear of the Lord', but given it's Hebraic roots, the word FEAR- us westerners just see it as one sided. We don't have more than one type of fear in our language. The Hebrews and Greeks however had a beautifully rich much superior language than English. They had a language that went in depth on so many more words than English , gives you a much fuller picture.
Does that make sense? I am not trying to instigate, just give a different veiw point. Also i will no longer make assumptions but will over clarify myself on points I think could be misconstrued.
If you decide to reply, could we start a new thread? I am getting so lost as this thread keeps "begetting" other posts (heh heh)
