You will have a huge fight on your hands at the hospital and after care with the doc. I refused vax after birth. I also refused the eye ointment. They said the eye stuff was state law. I did have a sympathetic nurse who administered it, and swept it over the eyes and I simply wiped it off.
Everyone you encounter will treat you as though you are silly, with far out ideas. That is everyone who disagrees with you, and good luck finding someone who does agree with you. You have to prepare your self with knowledge. Just repeat the phrase "I've made an informed decision".
My first son was fully vaccinated, because I didn't know any better. He spent much of his young life with ear and respitory inection, being constantly doctored and fed antibiotic. My youngest son was not vaccinated at all and has not been to the doctor since his two month check up. Where I was told that if I did not start his vaccinations, he did not feel that he could continue to have me as a patient. I never returned. My son is now 19 months, and has not needed to go back. Two mild sick spells have come our way and both I have treated at home- no biggie.
I attribute his health in great part to our lifestyle. I breastfeed and plan on prolonged breastfeeding. I don't leave him at daycare, where a child is exposed to a plothera of sickness. I waited as long as possible to introduce solid foods. He was about 10 months. I figure that when they start getting teeth, it's time to slowly introduce foods. I introduced one food at a time and very slowly added new ones. The foods he eats are whole foods- never did jars. I think those are the biggies. I think that you must concider things like this when making a decision. I personally would be leary of not vaccinating if I were leaving my child at daycare.
I wish you and your new little one all the luck in the world. Cudos to you for getting informed. Let us know how everything goes.
