NOTE: I DO ATTEMPT TO VERIFY THE VERACITY OF MY POSTS - I DID NOT VERIFY THIS ONE. MY WIFE HAS HEARD THAT THE DEAD TO SERIOUSLY WOUNDED RATIO IS 16 TO 1.

Operation LIFE LINE
(9/15) While working directly with Andrews Air Force Base we have learned of the severe lack of personal care items for wounded troops returning directly from the battlefield who arrive first at Andrews for immediate medical attention. Their uniforms are cut to shreds for direct access to wounds. Many are still fighting low morale, loss, trauma and internal war. Some wrestle with the fact that limbs must be amputated. We may never begin to comprehend the sacrifices these men and women have made but we know it is only right that we help meet their basic needs and to help them feel whole, welcomed and loved.
A lack of media coverage on our wounded servicemen and servicewomen may have us believe the need is nonexistent but in reality it is very real and very great. Many fellow Americans also find it difficult to absorb that these personal care items are not furnished as standard procedure and therefore our plea to our Nation to aid our Finest has mostly gone unanswered. We believe the Nation would be shocked to learn that over 6,000 wounded and ill American soldiers from all branches of the armed forces have thus far come through Andrews prior to going to military hospitals or their homes to recover.
Can you help us? America's Heroes of Freedom has always been understaffed and lacked financial resources, yet to date we are grateful to have accomplished some high profile endeavors. For example, Washington, D.C. Honors America's Heroes of Freedom was a patriotic tribute on the anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon attended by 1,800 Pentagon family members and approximately 2,300 total. Our Women of Heroes Too event held at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, Arlington, VA in May 2003 honored women heroes and received the support of 50 Congressmen and Senators.
Our current focus is Operation Life Line which is a direct effort to aide our wounded U.S. troops. Enclosed please find further information, including a DefenseLINK / American Forces Press Service article (the official news agency of the U.S. Department of Defense) on us.
