No, stools should not float. If they do, it indicates that you are either not digesting fats well or you are eating too much of it. Oils are very concentrated and should be used in moderation. Butter (unsalted) is less concentrated and you can use more of it. Recent studies have shown, that butter actually protects the heart and blood vessels against damage. Olive oil does the same.
But eating too much of either burdens the digestive system, and whatever cannot be digested or absorbed ends up in the colon, where it is either broken down into irritating fatty acids by bacteria or is just eliminated. Since fats are lighter than water, they make stools float. You don't require more than 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil per day (good in salad or on veggies) to have the omega benefits. Carbohydrates, such as veggies and grains, beans, etc. are difficult to digest and absorb unless you use about a teaspoon of butter or oil.
It is no problem to have a film of oiliness, though, during the cleanse. Just make sure to not overdo with oils. Gdod things are only good when taken in moderation, in excess they can just become as toxic as is poison.
Best wishes,
Andreas
