There are now hundreds of books on Reiki, because there are now hundreds of different versions of Reiki (and the list is growing). Everyone is jumping in with their own version.

The purists are not very happy, but I see it as an evolution, with Reiki advancing higher and higher in its frequencies. It should not be an elite and secretive system of healing, as it was 20 years ago.

Many of the books available contain the "secret" symbols that were only revealed to "initiates" a few years ago. I learned Reiki about 12 or so years ago, and my Reiki Master would not even give us handouts with the symbols on it. We had to learn them, memorize them, and trust our memory. Then when I went on to get my Master level, I saw that many of my class recalled the symbols differently. AND IT STILL WORKED! So it's not necessary to do any of the systems of healing "accurately" because all that is required is Intention!

I like Diane Stein's book and William Rand's....as well as Murray if you are unable to take a workshop. Rand's is the best for beginners.
