She has been having trouble with leg injuries, first a ligament tear, and later a shoulder sprain, and also diarrhea. I saw a flyer in my doctor's office for a woman who does reiki. I thought it would be good for her because it's non-invasive. I didn't know what to expect, but if the woman just petted Katie and gave her attention, it was worth it to me.
The woman was very nice. First my dog had to calm down from meeting a new person. She kept barking and trying to lick her. Finally, she calmed down and the woman started passing her hand above her. When she got to a certain spot along the spine, she told me her hand started to hurt. She proceeded to make her hand go lower each time, until she was touching Katie. When she got near that same spot on her back, she gave a little warning growl. She then switched to petting her until Katie relaxed and rolled over on her side. Then she was able to touch the spot no problem.
WHat is interesting is when we took Katie to the vet after her shoulder sprain, she found muscle tension in the same spot on her spine. The reiki woman found it even before touching her! She said animals are very protective of their families and often take on their pains and illnesses. She told Katie not to do that any more.
Now I am wondering if I should take Katie for a massage or chiropractor.
